You could cut the tension in Belgium’s locker room with a knife. The poor start for the team in this World Cup (a 1-0 victory over Canada, and a 2-0 loss against Morocco) has put the ‘red devils’ in a tense situation that is affecting the team’s stability, turning it into a real powder keg.
Different reports state that there have been some intense arguments in the past few hours between different members of the team that would have turned physical if it wasn’t for Romelu Lukaku’s intervention. Some news outlets have called the reports “fake,” but the silence surrounding the team hasn’t allowed anyone to come up with the facts.
We might get official information before Belgium’s next match. It could be during the press conference that will involve Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, teammates in Real Madrid.
The choice to put both in front of the journalists has stoked the flames further since it was originally thought that Yannick Carrasco would be in the press conference alongside Arthur Theate.
They were later replaced by Eden Hazard and Vertonghen until the latter “dropped out” to give his spot to Courtois. A real mess.
