FC Barcelona have placed Alessandro Bastoni at the very top of their priority list. As previously reported by Mundo Deportivo, the 26 year old Italy international is the club’s main target to strengthen the left sided center back position ahead of next season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are open to negotiating a transfer for the defender, though not at just any price.
Reports from Sport Mediaset indicate that Barcelona have already submitted an initial offer of around €45 million. However, Inter are holding firm and are demanding at least €60 million to part ways with one of the key pillars of their defense.
Despite this gap, Barcelona believe there is room to lower the asking price. Bastoni’s current situation, following his red card during Italy’s disappointing World Cup playoff campaign, is seen internally as a potential factor that could influence negotiations. The club views him as a proven defender with strong ball playing ability and experience at the highest level.
The deal will ultimately depend on Barcelona’s financial flexibility and the priorities set by the sporting department during the upcoming summer transfer window.
With several months still remaining in the season, Bastoni’s name is expected to remain in the headlines as speculation over a move to Barcelona continues to grow.
